Team Talk - March

Faith and Perseverance: Kevin Benade’s Testimony Recently, Kevin Benade (Quality Controller for Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality) shared his inspiring testimony on Kingfisher FM, reminding us all of the power of faith and perseverance. Born in Cape Town, Kevin has always been a man of strong belief, understanding that perseverance is about never giving up, no matter the challenges faced.

His journey with Christ began in December 1990 when he gave his life to the Lord. Rooted in the truth of John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Kevin has dedicated his life to sharing God’s love and grace. Beyond his faith, Kevin has a deep love for sports and his community. He consistently encourages those around him to trust in Jesus, reminding them that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Kevin’s story is a testament to the unwavering faith that carries us through life’s ups and downs. His words serve as a beacon of hope, inspiring others to remain steadfast in their belief and to always trust in God’s promises. No matter the obstacles, perseverance and faith will always lead the way. This is his story…

Divine Protection in the Face of Danger “On an overcast Tuesday morning around 9 a.m., I received a call from a building contractor and the local community to conduct a quality control inspection on low-cost housing built as part of a housing project in New Brighton. As I drove to the site, my car radio was tuned into Kingfisher FM, where the presenter, Lee-Ann, was sharing an inspiring message from the Bible followed by a prayer.

On this particular morning, at approximately 9:10 a.m., she prayed for God’s Hand of protection over us. I felt an immediate connection to her words, praying in agreement and claiming that promise in Jesus’ Name. Upon arriving at the site, I met the contractor, and as per our routine, we parked our vehicles and began the inspection, walking through each newly built home, identifying any necessary corrections.

It was during our exit from the fifth house, stepping onto the street, that an eerie and chilling sound caught my attention—the unmistakable click of a pistol being cocked behind me. My initial reaction was irritation, wondering who would be so reckless as to handle a firearm in an undeveloped area among civilians.

Turning around, I found myself staring directly into the barrel of a loaded gun. There were two assailants—one holding the weapon and the other carrying a Polo handbag, likely intended to stash their stolen goods. The armed man began issuing commands, demanding our cell phones, wallets, and firearms. In that moment, one of my colleagues made a split-second decision and dashed toward a house across the street. As he ran, he reached for his own firearm, prompting the armed thug to open fire.

A sudden shootout erupted, with my colleague returning fire. In the chaos, the second thug fled as the gunfire intensified. I stood frozen in the background, mere moments away from the crossfire. Then, something miraculous happened. I felt a firm Hand on my shoulder, guiding me backward behind the safety of the yard wall we had just stepped out of. As bullets struck the wall I was shielded behind, the acrid scent of gunpowder filled the air.

The gunman soon fled, and within seconds, an eerie silence settled over the street—no movement, no voices, not even a dog barking. I needed to see who had pulled me behind the wall. Looking around, I found myself alone. There was no one beside me. It was at that moment that I knew—without a shadow of a doubt, that the Divine Hand of God had been upon me, protecting me from harm. Overwhelmed with gratitude, I rejoiced and gave thanks for His unyielding love and mercy.

This experience has strengthened my faith and solidified my trust in the Lord’s protection. I share this testimony to encourage others: trust in the Lord, walk in His love, and rest in the assurance that His divine protection is ever-present. He is always with us, shielding us even in the most perilous of moments.”
