Come HOme: He is still calling By Stella Ashworth
Dear Beloved in Christ,
There comes a moment in every one of our lives when we must stop, become still, and face God, and ask ourselves a difficult but necessary question:
Am I truly where God wants me to be?
Sometimes we don't realise that we are drifting. It doesn't always happen suddenly. Sometimes it happens little by little. One compromise becomes another. One wrong decision leads to another.
We become distracted by the world, consumed by our own desires, and slowly begin moving away from God. And the frightening part is that we may not even recognise how far we have wandered.
But God sees. He sees what we cannot see. He knows what is happening in our hearts. He knows when we have become distant from Him, even when we continue going through the motions of being a Christian.
But here is the beautiful truth about the grace of God: It is never too late to come home.
You may have wandered far. You may have made mistakes. You may have compromised your faith. You may have allowed things into your life that you know are not pleasing to God. But if you turn back to Him with a truly repentant heart, the Father is still calling you home.
Grace does not tell us that sin doesn't matter. Grace tells us that we can return. Love means that the Father is willing to forgive us when we humble ourselves, confess our sins, repent, and turn back to Him.
It is never too late to make wrong things right. It is never too late to turn darkness back into light. It is never too late to lay down our pride and say, “Lord, I have gone my own way. Forgive me. Lead me back.” And it is never too late to step back into the will of God for our lives.
But what is the will of God?
Perhaps you are asking that question tonight. “How do I know God's will for my life?”
Start with His Word. Open your Bible. Seek Him. Pray. Ask Him to reveal His truth to you. God has not left us without direction. His Word reveals His character, His commands, His standards and His ways.
The more we know His Word, the more we understand His will.
You don't have to create your own version of Christianity. You don't have to redefine what God calls right and wrong. His Word is our guide. And when we truly desire to walk in God's will, we cannot separate His will from obedience to His Word.
Jesus said: “If you love Me, keep My commands.” John 14:15
Obedience isn't about trying to earn God's love. It is about responding to the love He has already shown us. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that God's plans are not plans to destroy us but plans for a future and a hope.
But we must remember the context: God's people were being called back to Him, to trust Him and seek Him. And perhaps that is the message someone needs to hear today:
Come back. Come back to prayer. Come back to the Word. Come back to obedience. Come back to repentance. Come back to the presence of God. Come back to the path He has called you to walk.
There is a choice before every one of us. Scripture speaks of life and death, blessing and curse, and calls us to choose life.
So tonight, I ask you, not as someone standing above you, but as someone who must examine their own heart too: Where are you with God?
Are you walking in His will? Have you slowly drifted away? Have you allowed the world to become louder than His Word? Have you become comfortable with things God is calling you to surrender?
Perhaps today is the moment to turn around. Perhaps today is the moment to stop running. Perhaps today is the moment to come home.
The Father is still calling. His grace is still reaching. His mercy is still available. But don't mistake His patience for permission to remain where He has called you to leave.
Repent. Return. Obey. Follow Christ.
There is no greater place to be than in the will of God.
Come home, beloved. He is still calling.
