Forgiveness

Forgiveness

Forgiveness is a powerful thing. “Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times? Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.” Matthew 18:21-35 NIV.

Forgiveness is not always easy, but when we forgive, we set our hearts free in order to truly live. No one understands the human heart better than Jesus. No one understands human pain and betrayal like Jesus do. As He entered Jerusalem, crowds shouted from of excitement “Hosanna! And 3 days later, the same crowd shouted, “crucify Him!”

People can do horrible things to each other out of selfish reasons. Greed, jealousy, envy, power…. But the battle is not ours, it belongs to God. The only thing required of us is to forgive as Jesus taught us to forgive. At times we want to hold on to the anger or seek vengeance but what shall we gain if we lose our souls? There is power in forgiveness. There is healing in forgiveness.

When we forgive, we can heal, we can move on, and we can receive the blessings that God has planned for us.

We cannot change the past, but we can change the future.

We can choose to forgive all the days of our lives and live lives that honours God.

We can never control the ways of others, but we can learn to adjust our own hearts.

Unforgiveness destroys the soul and harden our hearts. Unforgiveness can stop God from answering our prayers. Unforgiveness can block us from living the life that God has planned for us.

Forgive and forgive often. It’s not about others, it’s about our hearts being right with God.
