Adopt a cop project
Other initiatives may include a reward for the best officer of the month. A meal at a restaurant. A cake for the members on duty, etc. Any other uplifting project where our members will feel that they are appreciated by the community and that they belong.
Bless them so that they feel that they Belong, then they will start to Believe and then they will Behave. The projects and initiatives should be discussed with the Station Commander of the local police station and there should under no circumstances be any finances given to any member.
If a member is struggling financially then it should be reported to the Station Commander who then needs to report it to Social Services who must then assist the member. We don't want a situation where corruption or bribery can take place. And please give us feedback as we would like to post it on our FB page so that it might encourage others to become involved. Every one can play a role in uplifting our police members morale so that they can serve our communities with the knowledge that somebody cares for them.
How Do I Adopt-a-Cop?
1. Prepare. Search your heart and your motives. Ensure this is the direction God intends for you. Read Psalm 127:1; Proverbs 14:15
2. Spend a season in prayer .Ask God to reveal anything in you God to reveal anything in you personally that may hinder the ministry. Read Psalm 139:23-24.
3. Perhaps you can join the CPF (Community Policing Forum) or a sector policing forum. Think of ways in which you can reach out to your local police station so you can get the heart of God for members and how you can build a bridge between the police and the local community. Read Romans 13:1-4; 1 Timothy 2:1-4.
4. The power of two. Choose a prayer partner who you have a good relationship with and that you can trust. Men - only men .... Women only women. Mark 6:7 (NKJV) "And He called the twelve to Himself, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them power over unclean spirits.“ Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three gather in "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Luke 10:2 says, “The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few.” Therefore we would like to encourage the few labourers to multiply so we can bring in the harvest as quickly as we can, because time is short.
5. Find a Police officer you would like to Adopt. This might not be easy if you don't know any police officer at your local police station. Go to your nearest police station and ask if you could speak to the Station Commander or his deputy. Tell them about this awesome project and if he/she could advise you which police officer he/she could recommend to be part of this.
6. Please communicate with us. Please send us an email and inform us of your progress.
We will then keep in touch by email to encourage you.
