Better Together – Clive & Rene Bushby

“Better Together”

Team Talk is exited to share more about Clive and Rene Bushby. Clive & Rene Bushby have been married for five years and have been actively involved in ministry as a couple since 2016. Residing in Theescombe, Port Elizabeth, currently serving at Word of Faith Christian Centre as leaders.

Rene was the co-founder of Shepherd’s Field Kibbutz and has been involved in rehabilitation for 24 years, it’s during these times that she trusted God for her husband. Her heart has always been mission work and while waiting on God to reveal her “Mr Right”, she attended Bible College & a Missions Training Program with Every Tribe Missions. Clive led a life of recreational drug abuse & clubbing for 15 years, during these years he had opportunity to work abroad in the hospitality industry.

Clive tells a powerful story of his previous life and how he landed up in jail in the United States twice. He left the USA in 2008 and continued with his reckless lifestyle. One evening He had an encounter with the Lord in his room after he had lost everything, including his job. He surrendered His life to the Lord on the 27th July 2011 at 10:10am Clive and Rene’s paths crossed at Word of Faith Christian Centre – being in a Connect group and knowing each other for 5 years, they went on their first date in 2015 and Well, as they say the rest was history, the engagement took place in 2016 and the wedding ceremony in 2017.

The couple both managed Shepherd’s Field Kibbutz, which functioned as a rehabilitation centre for adult males. Countless families have been restored through rebuilding lives & trust. They have a passion for evangelism and to see the hearts of people transformed by the power of the Gospel. They realised they have a God given unction to travel through Africa and preach the Good News.

They established CRB Ministries in 2018 and both obtained their Degrees in Ministry. In 2020 God opened the door for them to preach in Africa, they were invited to Bungoma, Kenya, by Bishop Shannon Wafula Macheusi. They arrived in Nairobi, only to realize the country was on full lockdown, they have an amazing testimony of how God protected them and supplied every need for their trip to Bungoma. Who said ministry in Africa is ever easy...

They witnessed many decisions for Christ, as they ministered in five different towns in 5 days! Kenya has become their second home and they have such a love for the country and the people. They are hoping to return to Kenya but also minister in Uganda. They realised that teens struggle with many personal battles, such as drug abuse, bullying, poor decision making, abandonment and peer pressure...

School ministry forms part of their vision, they have seen many young people come and give their hearts to the Lord as Clive shares his personal testimony. Having a passion for the youth, they saw a need for teens to be impacted and empowered, this vision birthed Camp Empower in 2019– coaching and impacting the youth through fun filled activities and life skill lessons.

Two camps were conducted in 2019, unfortunately due to Covid 2020 camps were postponed. Two camps have already been conducted this year in March. Camp Empower has a goal to coach, impact and activate the youth, to be leaders of tomorrow and pillars of strength in their families, schools and communities. Camp Empower will eventually reach the entire family, once woman & men camps are also established. CRB Ministries has been implanted with passion and has adapted Acts 11:21 as their ministry statement - Preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit, witnessing a mighty harvest of souls.

Clive and Rene have many testimonies of what God has done through their ministry. One example was when Clive prayed for a lady that was discharged from the Hospital due to a back injury, unfortunately there was nothing they could do for her and needed the hospital bed. He got to the house and led the lady’s mom to Jesus and proceeded to pray for the lady who was laying on her stomach in tremendous pain and couldn’t move. He anointed her and prayed for healing and encouraged the lady and left her house. After 10 minutes, while driving, she started to send him pictures of how God had healed her back, she was crying with joy and started dancing as she could never do this for a very long time.

On another account upon invitation to lecture at a mission’s training school, a young girl got set free from demonic strong holds during worship. After a few months upon their return to the church, she testified how her life has changed and gave God all the Glory. Another testimony – while ministering to a lady in a rural village, God miraculously healed her eyesight. She was overjoyed! “We believe that we cannot say we love God if we don’t have a heart for people, the Church is the body of Christ in which He speaks and acts.

We should be imitating Jesus, when we do this, God will use our lives as a testimony to echo His love and Word to the nations”
